Review: The Body Shop – Drops of Youth

I never believed in the power of crèmes and serums. until NOW.”

Tom Ford.

Hello hello Munchkins! I hope you are all doing well.
I’m back with another review.

On today’s post, I’m going to talk about my recent skincare product. I watched a lot of videos on Youtube where people were raving about this product a lot. So I wanted to give it a try and make a review about it for you guys.

As you start ageing, your skin ages along with you. Being in my late twenties.. Euhm..Well, let’s just say that I’m stepping into my first signs of aging. LOL. I noticed some fine-lines around my eye area, on my forehead.. and each time I would look into the mirror, they were like waving at me. *Urrgh*

And this is where I thought… Girl!! You need an anti-ageing serum.
I’m already a fan of the Body Shop products, and honestly the products I own from The Body Shop never failed me.

Let me break the suspense right away! I was really really pleased and satisfied with this product.

So without further ado, let’s get started.. Shall we?

Let me present you to the famous Drop of Youth from the Body Shop. It’s an anti ageing serum. Yes you heard it, ANTI-AGEING!! It’s such an amazing product, and I couldn’t wait to write a review about it.

# The serum

It comes in a green coloured glass bottle with a dropper. You can clearly see the amount of products it contains. It’s in a gel-like formula. Smells absolutely refreshing and has a thick consistency.

# Did it work?

I used this product religiously twice a day until recently, I started using it only once a day (during my night time skincare routine).

I’ve also tried to use it less, like thrice a week to see if the effect was still the same, or if it made any changes to my skin. And…. Yes! My finelines didn’t come back to haunt me or say hi. They were just less visible than before.

With only 2-3 drops, you can easily cover your entire face! A little goes a long way. I apply it on the ‘wrinkled’ areas first; massaging it into my skin. The serum absorbs very quickly into the skin, and does leave a little tacky feeling when drying, but fades away within seconds. But it has a cooling effect.

The serum made my skin looking more healthier and plump. I also noticed a glowy finish on my skin and my skin feel more moisturized. The best part was that, my face was smoother and soft, just like baby skin.

#Is it recommended? Is it worth it?

After around 3 weeks of scrupulous use, I could see real changes. I was like– New face.. Who dis? LOL

The fine lines on my forehead area were fading away big time! The only iiiiik into it was the ugly wrinkles around my eye area, which are a bit tenacious. But it’s okay to have a little imperfections right?

Let’s be real, we have to accept the wrinkles and pimples! They are part of us. I believe it’s most probably due to other factors (lack of sleep, dehydration, hormonal changes…) that I’m neglecting and which I cannot get rid of only with skincare. But, on a positive note, I’m happy that they are no more the ‘Hi-we-ugly-wrinkles-are-here!

#My verdict

  • Advisable mainly for people between a certain age range 24yrs old — 30+. I personally believe it’s more for mature skin than younger skin.
  • Suitable for all skin type (oily/combination/dry/normal skin).
  • Best use – under the eyes. Can be used as an eye cream; if you have dry under eyes.
  • Results will be apparent after 3 weeks of constant use. It’s not a magique potion!
  • The deceptive part – its price! Yes it’s quite pricey, but it’s a good investment.
  • As it has a thick consistency, it’s used up rather quickly.

That’s about it folks! I hope you found this review helpful.

The product is available at the BodyShop outlets, or if you want you to purchase the serum, feel free to can contact the adorable Nabila, she’s one among the best makeup resellers based in Mauritius ( Do check her IG account.
